Powell Fellowship Nomination
Faculty are encouraged to nominate applicants for the Powell Fellowship.
This fellowship is for one year. The award includes a $20,000 stipend, plus in-state tuition. It is restricted to students who are long-term Virginia residents with financial need.
Master's and doctoral level students are eligible for this award. Two awards will be made for the 2017-18 academic year. One nomination per department will be accepted.
Students are responsible for paying their comprehensive fees and health insurance.
To be eligible, students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents entering their first year of graduate study, be a long time Virginia resident (attended high school in Virginia) and exhibit financial need by submitting a FAFSA.
Nominations are due March 10, 2017.

The award will go to the student that bests meets the criteria of financial need and Virginia residency. However, you are encouraged to write any comments about this student that you think would contribute to his/her/their nomination for the award.
